ABOUT US

Why choose a remote law firm?

Bassili Law operates remotely serving greater Alberta from our Edmonton law office. By running fully online, Bassili Law has several advantages:

Speed - We don't need to wait to see you in person. We can start assisting you immediately.

Cost - Physical law firms pass the cost of the physical offices and all the related expenses on to you. We don't.

Convenience - Bassili Law uses all the modern tools. Sending, receiving, and signing documents has never been easier. You can be more connected with your lawyer with less effort and time.

Skill - Bassili Law can work with a variety of skilled professionals to procure exactly the service you need, which is only made possible by the modern, remote approach.

“After nearly two decades in a conventional law firm, I left to start a remote firm for modern, busy clients who need fast help without compromising quality.”

FAQ

We're here to answer you.

We’re answering some of the more common questions here.

We Are Here To Fight Against any Wrong Action With Experience

We work on the retainer model. We take a payment from our client and hold it in trust. As we do our work, we bill against the retainer. As we continue, the client tops up the retainer. All unused retainer funds are refunded.

There are special rules about how lawyers handle client billing and representation, and we adhere to these rules. To ensure we are always able to act in your best interest as your matter evolves, sometimes with little to no notice, we ensure we have funds in trust to seamlessly and expeditiously act for you.

First, we have a conversation. You get an opportunity to tell us about your issue and ask questions about the process. We ask questions and help outline next steps and options. If you decide to move forward, we discuss the scope of our engagement, send you a retainer letter, and you make a payment. If you decide not to move forward, we are happy to have helped you think through it.

We are fully remote. We have video or phone calls as needed. We ask all documents be emailed or otherwise sent electronically. If you need to give us physical documents or other items, you can do so by mail or courier to our downtown Edmonton location. We will only be required to meet in person if you need to have your oath taken or we need to advocate for you in person, for example at a mediation, settlement meeting or a court appearance. At your request, we are available to meet in person in Edmonton.

Maybe. We often advise potential clients not to hire us. We help you look realistically at the expense and potential benefit of using professional legal counsel. Sometimes it’s not worth it, and sometimes it is. We also frequently refer clients to another excellent lawyer who practices in an area where we don’t.
